MATHEMATICS NURSERY ONE TERM 2

Week 1 & 2

Topic: Conversation on Electricity

Objectives: Pupils should be able to state that it is dangerous to play with electricity and that it is not good to leave switches on.

Lesson: 2 Lessons

Materials: Switch and socket in the class

Activities: Pupils will learn not to tamper with switches or sockets. They will also be taught about the dangers of inserting objects into sockets.

Evaluation:

• Should we play with sockets? YES/NO
• Is it right to leave our switches on during the day? YES/NO

Week 3 & 4

Topic: My Immediate Family

Objectives: Pupils should be able to name family members, such as father, mother, brothers, and sisters.

Lesson: 8 Lessons

Material: Chart on a nuclear family

Activities: Teachers will introduce family members to the pupils, highlighting roles and relationships.

Evaluation: Mention two members of your family.

Week 5 & 6

Topic: Animals That Are Friendly (Pets)

Objectives: Pupils will be able to identify and name pets, such as dogs, cats, and rabbits, found around the house.

Lesson: 2 Lessons

Material: Chart on friendly animals

Activities: Pupils will learn that friendly animals are called pets and other animals found around the home are domestic animals.

Evaluation:

• Mention animals that are pets.
• What other names are used for friendly animals?

Week 7 & 8

Topic: What Is Happening in the Nation?

Objectives: Pupils will be able to recall major events in the news, such as the visit of the President of the United States to Nigeria.

Lesson: 2 Lessons

Material: The class

Activities: Teachers will narrate recent news events in a way that pupils can understand and remember.

Week 9 & 10

Topic: Conservation of Food

Objectives: Pupils will be able to explain why and how to conserve food, avoiding waste and overeating.

Lesson: 2 Lessons

Material: Food from lunch packs

Activities: Pupils will learn about the importance of not wasting food and why overeating is improper.

Evaluation:

• Is it proper to eat too much food? YES/NO
• Is it good to waste food? YES/NO

Week 11

Topic: Revision, Termly Test, Examination, Closing

Review all topics covered during MATHEMATICS NURSERY ONE TERM 2, followed by termly tests and examinations. End with closing remarks.

Week 1 & 2

Topic: My Extended Family

Objectives: Pupils should be able to name extended family members, such as uncles, aunts, grandparents.

Lesson: 2 Lessons

Material: Chart on extended family

Activities: Teachers will explain and list the roles of extended family members.

Evaluation:

• Who is an uncle?
• Who is an aunt?

Week 3 & 4

Topic: World Animals

Objectives: Pupils will learn to identify different types of animals.

Lesson: 2 Lessons

Material: Animal category charts

Activities: Teachers will display animal categories and explain their characteristics.

Evaluation: Name some animals you know.

Week 5 & 6

Topic: World of Fish

Objectives: Pupils will learn to identify fish and state at least two characteristics of fish.

Lesson: 2 Lessons

Material: Chart or live fish

Activities: Teachers will explain the characteristics of fish using live fish or pictures.

Evaluation:

• Where does a fish live?
• How does it breathe?
• Does a fish have limbs?
