Week 1 & 2

Topic: Review of Reception Work

Objectives: By the end of the lesson, pupils should be able to recall what was learned in Year One.

Lesson: 8 Lessons

Material: Teaching aids used in reception

Activities: Class activities on reception work to help students recall the concepts they have learned earlier.

Evaluation: Ask pupils general questions on reception work to assess their understanding.

Week 3 & 4

Topic: Picture and Oral Reading and Questioning – Introduce J, K, L

Objectives: At the end of the lesson, pupils should be able to sound, write, and identify the alphabets from A to L.

Lesson: 8 Lessons

Material: All sound paper letters used so far, plain sheets, flashcards, and movable alphabets.

Activities: The teacher will guide pupils through the process of tracing, sounding, and writing letters to enhance their understanding and identification of the alphabet.

Evaluation: Pupils will be asked to write letters A to L, match letters, and sort them out from a mixed group.

Week 5 & 6

Topic: More Work on the New Letters – Story Reading and Answering Oral Questions

Objectives: At the end of the lesson, pupils should be able to link all the alphabets, write the alphabet during random dictation, and answer questions orally.

Lesson: 8 Lessons

Material: Movable letters of the alphabet, sandpaper letters, and a storybook.

Activities: The teacher will help pupils with activities like filling in missing letters, matching letters, and story reading. Pupils will answer oral questions related to the story during the session.

Evaluation: The evaluation will be similar to Week 3 & 4, where pupils are tested on their ability to write and identify letters A to L and answer questions related to the story.
