Content:
A national symbol is a symbol of any entity considering and manifesting itself to the world as a national community: the sovereign states but also nations and countries in a state of colonial or other dependence. National symbols are symbols of authority that are constitutionally ordered to be respected as the figure of the country's authority, government , and people
Examples of national symbols are:
1. The National flag
2. The National map
3. The National anthem and pledge
4. The constitution
5. The National currency
6. The mace

Content:
The constitution: is a body of rules and regulations which is used to govern a state and country.
It guide various governmental institution. It also contains how presidents, governors, and chairmen are chosen into office, their functions, term In office.
THE MACE: The mace is a national symbols used in the national assembly. It represents a symbol of authority and the supreme law of the country.

1. explain the meaning of national flag
2. describe the coat of arms as national symbols.

Building Background /connection to prior knowledge : Pupils have been taught the constitution and the mace as national symbols
Content:
NATIONAL FLAG: The Nigerian is divided into three coloured equal part I.e two green and one white . The green stands for the nation's rich(soil) agriculture and the white stands for peace and unity. Mr. Taiwo Akinkumi was the man that design the Nigerian flag.
